2) Understand how MeterHero works in class
Each lesson is ready to go with minimal prep time and follows this rhythm:
A) Show Slides: All instructions and links to materials are included
B) Optional Graphic Organizers: Students edit template documents as they investigate their real data
C) Enter Results Into the Dashboard: Students log in, click their meter, and fill in their Project Plan
3) Understand Options for Students Without Access to Meters at Home
MeterHero is engaging because it empowers students to analyze their own real utility data. However, because it is real-life, some students who live in apartment buildings, on wells, or who are navigating housing instability might not have access to water meters at home. Click below to see the many different strategies, like school audits, that teachers have developed over the years to make sure these students can participate.
4) Choose When you Want to Implement MeterHero
Because MeterHero makes APES real for students in just six steps (that take little class time), it’s the ideal enhancement for start-of-the-year, units 5/6 or Post-Exam.
Note: *Ideally, students have three weeks to collect baseline data, experimental data and report out their findings. If you have less than three weeks after the exam, simply have students only collect a few days of data and complete Steps 1 and 2 during Units 5/6.
MeterHero is ready-to-go.
